A Global Movement, An Australian Moment

This year, I had the honor of celebrating my very first World Boating Day at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in Australia—and it was one for the books.

World Boating Day was launched by the Superyacht Life Foundation, in 2024 to open the doors of the marine industry to the public. Its mission? To demystify yachting and make boating more accessible to people from all walks of life. Whether it’s stepping aboard a superyacht for the first time or learning about careers in maritime, this initiative is all about connection, transparency, and education.

Spanning 9+ countries, the movement invites the public into shipyards, marinas, crew spaces, and boat shows to experience what it’s like to live, work, and dream on the water. Whether you’re curious about yachting or considering a career at sea, this is your invitation in.

Why This Matters to Me

Boating isn’t just a business for me—it’s a lifestyle that changed my life. But let’s be real: this world can feel closed off, exclusive, and intimidating to those on the outside looking in. World Boating Day is about tearing down those walls

It’s about

Access — So more people can touch the water and feel the magic

Representation — So young girls, Black women, and underrepresented communities see themselves in this space

Opportunity — To learn, explore, and possibly build a future in boating

Connection — Because the sea has always brought people together

For the Love of Boats

I had the chance to sit down with Nic Douglass, also known as The Sailor Girl—aboard a beautiful Highfield boat during World Boating Day. Nic is a professional sailor with multiple world championship titles and has reported from some of the biggest events in sailing. We talked about our favorite yacht shows, our shared love for the water, and the importance of making the boating world more open and welcoming for everyone.

One of the highlights of the weekend was interviewing Luke, Director of Zeal Marinas and the Australian Ambassador for World Boating Day. A true leader in the space, Luke spoke about the importance of breaking down barriers in the boating industry and creating more opportunities for people to fall in love with life on the water.

Watch our full interview aboard Aquila Boats where we talk about everything from my personal love of boating to the impact this movement is already making.

Being part of the Australian celebration with Luke and Nic made this even more meaningful. Together, we created content, shared stories, and made sure that this day wasn’t just about yachts—it was about sharing the love of boating with the world!

Stay in the Loop

If you love yachts, sailing, and storytelling as much as I do, you’re going to want to stay connected. I’ll be dropping more videos, photos, and behind-the-scenes moments from World Boating Day and beyond—including my upcoming adventure to the Monaco Yacht Show.
